1989/3 | Magazine Vol. 3 No. 2 / March 1989 | Good Attendances at Special Events Last Year / Special Events were successful. Mrs Jackie Marsh won the Karova Farms Cup in the Sheepdog Trials. Tommy Sampson won a new event, timber nigging, on the Heavy Horses Day. 5,000 visitors came to the Rare Breeds Show; Patrick Garland and his wife, Alexandra Bastedo, presented the prizes. Richard Harris and the Redland Brick Company presented papers at the Exhibition of Building Conservation, which included visits to Pitsham brickyards and Cocking Sawmill. Bert Dibben threshed the Museum's corn, and the straw was loaded onto a waggon drawn by Bob Robinson's shire horses. Arthur Thompson's and Ian Dean's steam engines were used. |
